6 Fashion Trends to Try This Fall

Cuffing season is finally here. If you’re like me you’ve been waiting all year to break out the beanies, booties, and sweaters. Everyone loves to get snug in the fall, but there’s a fine line between snuggly and frumpy. To help make sure that you stay fabulous the whole season, I’ve put together a style guide that will keep you cozy and stylish.

Infinity Scarfs
You can count on an infinity scarf to sit comfortably on your neck without needing to be readjusted. Autumn is a great time to put your cotton or silk scarfs to work before making the transition to the wooly knit variety for winter.

Corduroy Blazer
Try playing with light jackets that have unexpected textures. This year corduroy is the trend to watch out for. You can dress it up with a pair of dress pants or bring it down a notch with a short denim skirt and thigh high boots. Just make sure that the fit is true to form. That may mean some alterations, which admittedly can be a pain in the neck, but it’s well worth it.

Colorful Tights
Just because summer is winding down, it doesn’t mean you have to put yourself in 50 shades of brown purgatory. In fact, adding in a pop of teal, red or yellow can complement those darker tones. A stand out piece can turn even the most basic outfit into a fresh look. With tights, you can emphasize the shape of your legs, while concealing any imperfections.

High-Waisted Wide Legged Pants
This fall essential is reminiscent of a 70s era bell bottom, but the modern 3/4 cut and belt makes it interesting and fashionable. Definitely a statement piece, these pants are versatile and can look good on everybody. I know we all lived for Aaliyah’s sexy, cool baggy jeans in the “Are you that somebody” video? With this look, you can get some of that tomboyish flair, but since it cinches in at the waist, you don’t have to sacrifice your figure. A small, simple white tee shirt or sweater can affect a lovely contrast and shape.

Pleated Skirt
A long flowy pleated skirt is a staple that you’ll want in your closet this fall. Yes, you can easily look professional and mature with this type of skirt. However, depending on how you style it can also transition well into a cute streetwear look. Wear it with medium length cardigan and ankle boot to create a chic bohemian appearance.

Slip Dress
I woke up like this takes on new meaning with this trend. A little slip and a chunky sweater is the go-to when you wish you could just leave the house in your pajamas.

As you can see, this year’s trends present a good opportunity to have fun with your style. More than any other season fall fashion leaves a lot of room to play because you can mix and match more items. The chances that you’ll make a fatal error and wide up freezing or overheating into a sweaty mess are little to none. So have fun be your fabulous best self.
