DIY Face Masks

Winter is almost over but for most of us, our skin is still recovering from the harsh winds, recent snow storms, and overall crazy weather this winter has brought us. But now that we almost through to the promised land of warm weather and sunshine, it’s time to give our skin a little TLC so we can make sure it’s spring ready. DIY face masks are a quick, affordable way to give your skin an instant boost. They’re easy to do and easy on the bank account too! Invite a couple of friends over, grab a bottle of wine, and you are set for a girls facial spa night! We’re sharing 5 quick and easy masks you’ll want to try.

Avocado + Honey Face Mask

For the ladies whose dry skin has been suffering this winter, an avocado and honey face mask is just what you need! Avocados are one of the most nourishing ingredients for your skin, while honey is great for soothing those extremely dry and irritated areas. This face mask is super simple and only uses 3 ingredients: 1 avocado, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Mix all the ingredients together and apply. Keep this one on for 20 minutes, rinse with warm water, and you’re done!

Pumpkin Face Mask

If your skin is still looking a bit dull from winter, you want to try this pumpkin face mask. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed. So, why pumpkin? Well, pumpkin is rich in vitamin A and C  which help boost collagen production. It’s also packed with AHA’s which are great to help skin look brighter. This is another 3 ingredient mask that uses: 1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of honey. You can apply this mask for 10 – 15 minutes and rinse with cool water and you’re good to go.

Banana + Honey Mask

Are you seeing a theme here with the honey? It’s a universal ingredient in DIY beauty and in this skin softening mask, all you’ll need is a ripe banana and greek yogurt. Bananas are full of skin loving nutrients but the main ones that will help you get glowing skin for spring are potassium which hydrates, B vitamins which work as antioxidants to protect skin against environmental stressors, and vitamin A which work to heal damaged skin. For this one, mash up a ripe banana in a bowl with a tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of full-fat greek yogurt. This recipe will have your skin soft in no time. Apply for 15 – 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
