Black love still exists. Some people believe that “Black love” is a thing of the past, but it is very much a part of our present and future. The world is filled with an abundance of beautiful couples, but we can’t help but fawn over the powerful and influential black couples who aren’t afraid to show how much they love their spouses. These are our favorite black couples who slay together and stay together.9. Grant Hill & TamiaGrant Hill made a name for himself in the NBA in his first season while becoming co-Rookie of the year and by being an NBA All-Star seven times. Tamia has made waves in the R&B world with songs like “So Into You,” which was later sampled by Fabolous, and she is a six-time Grammy nominated singer-songwriter. Grant Hill and Tamia have been married for 17 years and have two daughters, Myla and Lael Rose.8. Steve & Marjorie HarveyIf you haven’t caught Steve Harvey on television, there’s a big chance you’ve been living under a rock. Not only was does he host a series of TV and radio shows, but he’s also the published author of the popular dating and relationship advice book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. Majorie, who is a high-fashion expert, runs her own blog where she shares tips on balling on a budget. Steve and Marjorie Harvey have been married for 9 years and share seven children together. 8. Rev. Run & Justine SimmonsRev. Run is from the iconic group Run-D.M.C. Long after he put down the mic, he and his wife, Justine, opened up their homes to MTV for the show, “Run’s House.” Together the couple has had two more shows on television together: “Rev Run’s Renovation” on the DIY Network and HGTV and “Rev Run’s Sunday Suppers” which appears on the Cooking Channel. Possibly the most influential woman in history, Oprah has been making a name for herself since 1983 and now has a net worth upwards of 3 billion dollars. Stedman Graham, who is the chairman and CEO of his own company, works as a management and marketing consultant. Although the couple has never married, they have been together for 30 years. 5. Swizz Beatz & Alicia KeysIf you’ve ever heard the words “Showtime” at the beginning of a hip hop track, then you know who Swizz Beatz is. Primarily known for his work as a producer, you’ve heard his talents on tracks by Beyoncé, DMC, T.I., and Busta Rhymes. Alicia Keys is a 15-time Grammy Award winning artist and has put out countless of singles that have made their way to the top of the Billboard charts. Boris Kodjoe & Nicole Ari ParkerYou might remember Boris Kodjoe from his days as a fashion model or you might know him from his appearances in Brown Sugar, Madea’s Family Reunion, or “Soul Food: The Series,” the latter of which he met his wife, Nicole Ari Parker. In addition to receiving an Image Award nomination for her role in Soul Food, she also received nominations for her roles in Brown Sugar and Remember the Titans. Will Smith & Jada Pinkett SmithWill Smith dominated the television scene in the 90s and the movie screens in the early 2000s. Knowing the lyrics to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” theme song has played a major part in pop culture. With an impressive movie list under his belt, he has starred in box office hits like Men in Black, Ali, and The Pursuit of Happyness, the last two which earned him Oscar nominations. Jada Pinkett-Smith has starred in a series of TV shows and films, but she’s most commonly recognized for starring in “A Different World,” and the movies Set It Off and The Nutty Professor. In 1997, the couple got married and have two children together, Jaden and Willow.1. Barack & Michelle ObamaIf you thought the number one spot could go to anyone other than POTUS and FLOTUS, then you thought wrong. The 44th president of the United States is the proud alum of Columbia University and Harvard Law School. His beautiful wife, Michelle, graduated from Princeton University before going on to further her degree at Harvard Law School. In her position as FLOTUS, she has brought awareness to many causes, her most known being the pursuit of healthy eating and living habits. The couple married in 1992 and have two daughters, Malia and Sasha. Throughout Barack Obama’s time in office, the Obamas have proven to be the most down-to-earth and relatable couple, inviting basketball players and rappers like Stephen Curry and Kendrick Lamar for visits.
